Frequently asked questions

What is the Picturebook Makers Gallery?

You may have visited the Picturebook Makers Blog – a popular resource where many of the world’s finest picturebook artists take you behind the scenes. Our new PM Gallery features even more projects, illustrations and fascinating behind-the-scenes content from some of the brilliant artists on our blog.

Our goal with the blog and gallery is to provide an inspiring resource for publishing professionals, illustration students and graduates, and anyone else with a passion for picturebooks and a curiosity about the different approaches taken to make them.

Is this gallery replacing your blog?

No, there’s lots more exciting artists coming up on the Picturebook Makers Blog.

Who is the main audience for the gallery?

Our main audience for the PM Gallery is fans of our blog who'd love to see even more behind-the-scenes content from world-class picturebook makers.

Why is there a fee to access the gallery?

There’s a huge amount of quality content freely available on our blog, and it costs us a lot of money to provide this resource (many of the featured artists have been professionally translated into English from their native languages). We choose not to fund the blog and gallery development costs with advertising, so we charge a small fee to access the gallery. The featured artists totally support this initiative to help keep the Picturebook Makers resource going.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, you’ll automatically receive a 5-day free trial of the gallery so you can decide if you’d like to remain a member. Card details are required to start your free trial, but your card won’t be charged if you cancel during the free trial.

How much does it cost after the free trial?

After your free trial, gallery membership is $4.99 a month or $49 a year for unlimited access. You can cancel at any time.

Do the featured artists pay anything?

No, there’s no fee for the artists who take part in our blog and gallery. But we only invite artists we love.

I’m an artist/illustrator. Can I show my work in the gallery?

The Picturebook Makers Gallery is curated. We’re only able to feature a limited number of artists from our (very long) wish-list, but you’re more than welcome to submit your work to us at [email protected].

Can I suggest an artist I’d like to see featured?

Sure, we’d love you to suggest artists you’d like to see featured on our blog and gallery. Please email us if you have any suggestions.
